Leeds DIY dream pop 5-piece, Bug Teeth, have released their atmospheric and poignant debut album Micrographia, distributed via State51.

Harkening back to the work of 17th-century scientist Robert Hooke for the album’s namesake, Micrographia gets to the molecule and marrow of it all. Boiling down humanity to every universal crux, this album’s tendrils will hit you right in your core.

‘Thin Circle’ is an airy, electronic track whose breathy vocals and lulling string instruments make you welcome the musical haze that envelops you. With segments that loop and shake, ‘Thin Circle’ is a phantasmagoric song of grave elegance that balances as much as it staggers.

‘Crunch Went the Snow’ is a coldcore lover’s dream. Droning instrumentals pull you closer to the snow drifts and showcase the pain and beauty of winter as it stings your cheeks. Perfect for a frosty, grounding walk, ‘Crunch Went the Snow’ ripples across your consciousness like a freezing, shadowed winter sunset.

‘Merricat’ opens with heavy percussion and a shoegaze vibe. Accompanying an air of longing and surveying the ruins, this track feels like the calm after the storm. Sweet relief, wounds and all.

Bug Teeth continually expands what lies within the mysteries of the ambient, experimental genre with every release, and Micrographia is yet another sacred entry.
