Bristol-based punk band, Split Dogs have released their new single ‘Suffer’ off their upcoming album, Nice N’ Rough out on 25 September 2026 via Venn Records. The track is built on a heavy, mid-tempo groove that prioritizes raw power and grit over lightning-fast punk speed. ‘Suffer’ channels the late 70’s and 80’s heavy metal swagger, blending it with the unhinged energy of classic garage punk. Beneath its gritty exterior, the track delivers some of singer Harry Martinez’s most personal lyrics to date. When discussing the song, they said:
“It’s about carrying the weight of abuse long after it’s ended,” admits Harry. “The song deals with the struggle of letting the past dictate your happiness, but ultimately it’s about taking your power back, knowing your worth, and moving forward.”
‘Suffer’ relies on thick, distorted, down-tuned riffs that create a massive wall of sound. The distinctive, chugging rhythm combined with explosive, blues-infused hard rock guitar solos by Mil Martinez make it feel both chaotic and tightly controlled. The bass and drums on ‘Suffer’ lock into a heavy, stomping pocket while Harry Martinez’s vocals are fierce and raspy with attitude and palpable emotion that matches the weight of the lyrics. If Motörhead and Danzig had a sonic love child, this song, full of rock and roll attitude and dark, bluesy metal just might be it.
Ultimately, ‘Suffer’ is a masterclass in channeling deep, personal trauma into a towering, hook-filled hard rock anthem. It is a thrilling evolution for Split Dogs, proving they can slow down the tempo without losing an ounce of their signature bite.
