Today’s post is a double feature from New Jersey born / LA based indie pop/rock artist Maddy Davis! She recently shared companion singles from her upcoming EP, Would You Object for a Happier Life?: ‘Would U Object’ and ‘Happy Life’.
On ‘Would U Object?’, Davis narrates a heart pounding scenario that anyone can imagine in their mind, from personal experience or a scene from a movie.
“I wrote ‘Would U Object?’ about a hypothetical scenario in which a past lover of mine shows up to my wedding and screams “OBJECT!” to prevent me from marrying someone else. I wanted the song to feel cinematic. It’s a story from start to finish, but it’s also quite an obvious hopeless romantic cry-for-help, enabling my ex a chance to ruin my life one more time in the name of love. Would you fight for me? Would you take that final risk to prevent me from making a wrong decision? Would you object?”

‘Happy Life’ shows a more vulnerable side to Davis. Through the sadness, the angst lives on within the instrumentals and Davis’ vocals.
