If you’ve ever had your heart tangled in something that felt sweet until it started to sour, Platonic Sex’s new single ‘Easy’ will hit you where it hurts – gently, and with great precision. Out today, this pop-rock slow-burner from the Magandgin/Brisbane four-piece sways with nostalgic charm, like a half-forgotten mixtape rediscovered under your bed.

Built on the kind of melody that makes you miss people you shouldn’t, ‘Easy’ is a confessional ode to intimacy that starts strong, only to fade under the weight of unbalanced expectations. Vocalist Jane Millroy’s verse – first penned in high school – is steeped in wistful wisdom, while Audrey Brandolini’s reflections on emotional mismatch give the song its beating heart. The result is aching, shimmering, and painfully real.

Produced by Antonia Gauci and Sam Cromack, ‘Easy’ builds on the buzz of earlier single ‘Impress You’ and proves Platonic Sex are quickly becoming masters of the melancholic banger. Finalists at the Queensland Music Awards and recently seen tearing up stages from Gadigal Land to Meanjin, the band are riding high – and rightfully so.

‘Easy’ is anything but. It’s layered, luminous and laced with honesty – and that’s exactly what makes it brilliant.
