Cult of Doris (aka Cardiff’s Jude Thoburn-Price) joins us for the next LOUD WOMEN Club, on 12 Feb at the Hope & Anchor, along with Anarchistwood, Dinosaur Skull, Deuxes and Silver Fern. To get to know her before then, we asked her 5 questions …
- For people who haven’t heard you play live before, what can we expect from you at the LOUD WOMEN gig?
Electronic production, sound and Words .. not always in that order … from my inner thoughts and lived experience … taking in various genres of decades gone by.
2. What’s the most important thing we need to know about your act right now ?
I’m a producer and make tracks for others and do Live Sound, Soundscapes, Sound Design and Spoken Word. This performance set came about as part of #66 Days to your debut. Free mentoring, coaching and always supportive DIY music project running up to International Women’s Day on March 8th 2022, for women who missed out the first time round. I joined the project to help and support other women on their journey to performance and learning to play an instrument … and then I thought … Fuck it … I’ll do it as well. So I’ve dusted off my laptop, production software, controllers and other tech stuff and put some of my spoken word to sound and electronic production.
I’ve also made a track for Silver Fern to help them on their journey, which we will perform on the night together. You know …. Old people can do shit too! Life’s too short – get on with it !
3. If you had to do a cover at the gig, what cover would you choose to play?
Probably ‘Sisters Are Doin It For Themselves’ by Aretha Franklin and Eurythmics
4. Pass the Mic – who are your top 3 contemporary bands?
- I, Doris
Check out … Wonderwomen and Just Some Doris

Check out … Jiu Jits You and Who’s Got My Lighter
- Nova Twins
