It’s designed to make people feel mediocre (and can lead to people discarding pursuits that they’re passionate about. It’s the malaise of modern youth – the access to an endless stream of idealised images of success and ever-increasing expectations. It forces a kind of nihilism that is constantly at odds with internalised, ‘toxic positivity,’ resulting in either extreme confusion or a ‘mediocre quarter-life crisis.’”
