London’s Carry Lyanne launches her debut EP, Life, today, with a stunning video to accompany the lead single Nothing.
Following the local support of her track India, Carry Lyanne experiments with a new world of sounds and visuals, ‘Stranger Things’-inspired synths, electric guitars and airy vocals.
Written after a tormented relationship of ups and downs with an older musician, Nothing is about falling deeply in love with the wrong person, and that moment when you open your eyes and realize the relationship has come to an end. In contrast with the song, the video is quite cheeky and rather than depicting the pain of unrequited love, it gives the message: ‘Look what you’re missing out on!’
For Carry Lyanne the driving force to release an EP came about after her father died two years ago, provoking her to reflect on the meaning of life and explore new themes through her writing. The final result is a deep-flow of emotions: ranging from anger to love; melancholy to happiness.
Originally from Milan, big cities’ lights and nostalgia inspire her sound, which is reminiscent of artists such as Lana Del Rey, Florence & The Machine and London Grammar.
Carry Lyanne is an Italian-born singer songwriter currently living in London. She is currently studying Commercial Songwriting & Production at Tileyard Studios (Ella Eyre, Tiggs Da Author). Life is out today on digital platforms.
