Poesie

London-based, Brighton-born artist Poesie releases new single ‘Curious Eve’, the first taste of her forthcoming EP Nature Mother, and it’s an ambitious eco-feminist anthem packed with big hooks, big ideas and even bigger drama.

Taking inspiration from the Biblical story of Eve, Poesie reimagines her not as a sinner but as a woman asking difficult questions and refusing to stay quiet. “Now I’m louder than you, what will you do?” she demands, over crunchy riffs, thunderous drums and a chorus designed to be shouted back.

Musically, ‘Curious Eve’ pulls in influences from indie rock, pop and theatre, with a dash of Kate Bush-style storytelling. The result is bold, theatrical and refreshingly unapologetic. Poesie has plenty to say about ecology, equality and humanity, but she wraps her message in a song that’s every bit as catchy as it is thought-provoking.

Poesie will be performing with her band throughout the summer ahead of her EP launch show at Paper Dress Vintage, Hackney, on 28 October.
