Alt-pop newcomers The Deadmans are just dropped their second single, ‘If Arizona Didn’t Exist’. It’s a breakup song, but instead of being angry and bitter, it explores the angle of feeling indifferent, and knowing that ending that relationship was probably for the best.

The upbeat sound and matter-of-fact tone of the song makes it easy to listen to, with a chorus that I can definitely see being sung along at festivals and shows.
The song contains lyrics like ‘annoyed our friends when they lost that bet / cause they thought that we’d be forever / I’m just the place where you wasted most of your twenties, but it’s whatever’. Taken from the bridge and written by LaurenSage Browning, these lyrics showcase a certain wit to the song, as well as being so relatable. Haven’t we all had that one relationship in our twenties that probably should have ended sooner? I know I have.
This track follows their debut single ‘Nice Kid’, and is leading up to their self titled debut album, out in April 2024.
‘If Arizona Didn’t Exist’ is accompanied by a music video showing two band members stranded in a car off a highway, waiting for help. The video showcases the band’s strong identity and has a slight comical feel; everyone is simply waiting for something to happen, knowing it might be a long time before anything does.
The articulate lyrics and catchy production carve out a recognisable sound, and there’s no doubt that their debut album will be a huge success. The Deadmans are definitely a band to follow in 2026.
