Straight out of Naarm/Melbourne’s DIY punk underground, R.U.B return with ‘Ultimate Violations’, a blistering, uncompromising cover of the Spitboy classic that feels terrifyingly necessary right now. Ferocious and unrelenting, the track fuses hardcore urgency with raw punk fury, opening with confronting audio that roots it firmly in Australia’s ongoing crisis of gendered violence. This is not background listening – it’s a gut-punch, a demand to pay attention, and a refusal to look away.

With the blessing of Spitboy and vocalist Adrienne Droogas, R.U.B rework the song for a contemporary Australian context, amplifying its message with devastating clarity. The result is shared rage and collective grief turned into catharsis – a scream aimed directly at the systems that continue to fail women. It’s as harrowing as it is powerful, and proof that punk remains one of the sharpest tools for truth-telling.

We also love these humans to bits. R.U.B were the organisers behind LOUD WOMEN Fest Naarm/Melbourne in December 2025 (and they’re running it again this year – watch this space), and we’re beyond excited to be hosting them on the London leg of their UK tour this April, including a LOUD WOMEN show at The Cavendish Arms on 17 April. Fierce music, fierce politics, fierce community – Single of the Week, no question.
