With ‘Burrow’, Brighton’s AtticOmatic taps into mood, using a lo-fi cassette-deck intro before plunging listeners into an evocative trip of self-reflection, confession, and self-imposed seclusion.

Opening duo-vocals from Kamran Kaur (Vocals, Synth) and Lorcan Forder (Vocals, Guitar, Synth), sung over a minimalist yet moody guitar, give way to lush, complex structures with grunge-laced guitars, math-rocky hints, and breakbeat-inspired drums here and there.

It’s the perfect single to give fans a sense of what their four-song EP, out March 20th, will bring. Titled Between Two, which is a reference to a Tibetan concept of a specific liminal space after death, the sophomore EP is the latest offering from a band formed in a house-share in Brighton, defying easy labeling, borrowing instead from compelling genres to explore themes of neurodivergence, suffering, and self-awareness.

About ‘Burrow’, Kaur confesses the song allows wallowing, saying:

Burrow’ is about wanting to burrow into the ground and hide until the world feels safe again. Last year jaded me and that’s exactly how the people destroying the world want us to feel. So I try not to be pessimistic, but I guess I let myself be just for this one song.

‘Burrow’ does this best when it capitalizes on its haunting melody, allowing Kaur’s voice to carry the melody over the course of the song, punching in reverb before blossoming into stylish vocalizations working in tandem with equally haunting guitars.

AtticOmatic are George Lappin (Bass), Kamran Kaur (Vocals, Synth, Keys), Lorcan Forder (Vocals, Guitar, Synth), Kai Raghunath (Drums), and Ollie White (Guitar, Synth).
