I, Doris at LOUD WOMEN Fest 2025 – yes, this is where things get a bit meta. Me, writing on loudwomen.org, about my own band, at my own festival. But sod it – if you can’t be shameless here, where can you? And honestly … we were on fire. Quite possibly the best we’ve ever played. There, I’ve said it.

The core Doris frontline – Lucy Morgan (keytar), yours truly (bass), and Lenie Mets (guitar) – were already buzzing from our gloriously fun warm-up in Edinburgh the weekend before, and it showed. Add to that the phenomenal Cass Browne (Senseless Things, Gorillaz, Circle 60) on drums, and the legendary Charley Stone (literally in all the bands) on face-melting second guitar, and suddenly we were basically a Doris-flavoured supergroup.

I can’t tell you how much fun it was playing this set with this line-up of beautiful Dorisses – but judging from the crowd reaction, the fun was mutual. Perfect. Roll on 4 October – the LOUD WOMEN Birthday Party at The Lexington, which I, Doris will be playing along with Yakkie, Retropxssy and THWACK!

“I, Doris. The host band and always a highlight of the day. Joined by a few others on this occasion: one who was the the drummer for Senseless Things, and another who has been in too many bands to mention but plays guitar and sings in Charley Stone & the Actual Band also been in Salad and performs live with Sleeper – both of which were called Doris! Their careers took a turn for this though as I for the second time got to play the coconuts as I got to be the Cowboy. They remembered the hat this time too so it felt complete. It felt so good to perform at Loud Women Festival for a song and see a room so busy full of lovely people. It was those I shared the stage with responsible for all this though putting hard work into the festival and a fantastic performance as I, Doris sound better each time and I certainly have nothing to do with that part!” – John the Punk/Cowboy
