London singer-songwriter Emma Bradley is back with another stunning lament ‘let me in’, following her previous single ‘serotonin skies’. Layering rich vocals on top of sparsely placed strings and chords, Bradley creates a hauntingly lush sound akin to the likes of Imogen Heap.
‘let me in’ weaves a pleading tale of wanting to help someone close who is struggling with their mental health, and conveys the sadness felt having to see suffering in loved ones. There’s a sense of desperation hidden behind the lyrics ‘let me in, I’m here for you’ which evokes the feeling of helplessness we experience when someone we care about is hiding or holding their pain.
“It’s so difficult to see someone you love in a bad place mentally, because sometimes there is so little you can do if they don’t want to (or don’t know how to) accept your help. It’s about wanting them to let you in and let you help them, be there for them through the bad and the good, and showing them how much you love them.”
