Brooklyn-based rock band MAN LEE (Sam Reichman and Tim Lee) just released their debut single ‘Party Favor’.

‘Party Favor’ is a texture rich track that starts off with a vocal sample in Hungarian from field recordings from Tim Lee’s family gatherings in Budapest.  The phrase ‘üdvözöljük a bulinkon’ awkwardly translates to ‘welcome to our party’. Lee grew up not fluent in Hungarian but knew enough when something wasn’t right.

“We asked for help with pronunciation, but found that there was something even more compelling to my incorrect attempts. The words are there, but they’re not working quite right. That little phrase really captured that feeling when you enter a room and can sense that something’s up, and it ended up being the backbone for the whole piece.”

With a forthcoming LP Hefty Wimpy (due early 2025), MAN LEE is a band to keep on your radar.

Upcoming show:
22/9 – Pete’s Candy Store /  Brooklyn, NY
