Melbourne pop artist Kirrilee returns with ‘Go Away (Garbage Tip)’, a playful breakup anthem about embracing your self-worth and moving on – our earworm of the week <3
A bubblegum-pop bop with cheeky humour and searingly honest lyrics, ‘Go Away (Garbage Tip)’ refuses to dwell in sadness, instead turning heartbreak into something fun, infectious and empowering.
“I think I’ve had enough weird dating experiences to write a whole album,” Kirrilee says, “but ‘Go Away (Garbage Tip)’ felt like the perfect place to start. I wanted to capture the humour in those situations and turn the chaos into something fun. A lot of my music is deeply emotional, but this time I wanted to lean into my sense of humour and write an unapologetically playful breakup anthem that people could laugh, sing and heal along with. It’s cheeky, but also serves as a reminder that sometimes the best thing you can do is laugh, move on, and take the garbage out.”
