Fresh off their performance at this year’s Manchester Punk Festival, Keighley indie-punks Goo just released their new single ‘You’re in Mono’.
The song’s lyrics are a response to the rise in right-wing politics across the UK, in particular:
“the dilemma you may face when your friends or family may begin to lean towards such ideology.”
It’s a tongue-in-cheek delivery of an important message and shows that Goo really are going from strength to strength.
Musically, the single sees the band embracing a more garage rock influence than usual, while still maintaining their fuzzy, melodic signature sound. The chorus is perfect for singing along to, while the bridge wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Kenickie‘s debut album, with Tanisha’s vocals sounding like a perfect mix of Lauren Laverne and Justine Frischmann.
The release follows ‘Maladoit’, another new song, which is “basically about how clumsy Tanisha is on a daily basis!”
Goo will perform 8 gigs across Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Switzerland.
