It’s fun! It’s joyous! You can dance to it! Carla J. Easton‘s ‘Let’s Make Plans for the Weekend’ is an infectious confection of disco-pop energy.
Easton says:
“Me and my friend Pedro Cameron (Man of the Minch) wrote and demoed it in two hours, we’re both massive fans of Kylie Minogue and Girls Aloud. We wanted to write something that celebrates friendship, dancing, and that feeling you chase every weekend after a hard week.”
For an extra treat, the song comes with an absolutely adorable music video, telling the sweetest story (No spoilers. Watch for yourself)
‘Let’s Make Plans for the Weekend’ previews Easton’s forthcoming album, I Think That I Might Love You, available 8 May from Ernest Jenning Record Co. The Glasgow-based multi-instrumentalist, known for her work with Teen Canteen, Poster Paints and The Vaselines (she’s their keyboardist), solo project Ette, and three previous Carla J. Easton albums, adds,
“it’s the token synth-pop banger on the album, the guilty pleasure, the one that gets you dragging your friend onto the dancefloor.”
It’s true! Easton, with her sense of fun and love of pop, has been compared to Carly Rae Jepsen. Her clever lyrics and powerful voice, with its hint of a lilt, also evoke the gone-too-soon Jill Sobule. On this three-minute nugget of pleasure, she and guest vocalist MALKA (Hen Hoose) are inviting you to join them on that getaway you really need. Do it. You won’t be sorry.
