Miesha & the Spanks: It’s My Year – track of the day

A very exciting Track of the Day today – ‘It’s My Year’ by Calgary’s Miesha & the Spanks just dropped, a joyous taste of their vibrant garage-rock album ‘Unconditional Love In Hi-Fi’ which is slated for 14 April.

“I started this song as sort of an ode to my niece who was having a hard time with some friends in her small town, and I wanted to pump her up a little. But it also brought me back to when I was a pre-teen and having my own trouble with friends in my small town, and at first you always feel like you’re the problem, the weird one, but ultimately you’ve just got imagination and big ideas and you want more out of life. So this song’s really for all the weirdos who want more.”

Louie, guitar/vocals

And what’s even more exciting for LOUD WOMEN viewers in the UK … we can finally let the cat out of the bag and announce that the band are heading over to these shores to play for us in London on 10 June! They’ll be playing with T-Bitch and The Dead Zoo at the Hope & Anchor – an unmissable date for your diaries.

The celebratory video speaks for itself – for sure it is the year of Miesha & the Spanks!
