Today’s track of the day comes from Calgary rocknrollers Miesha & The Spanks: ‘Wanna Feel Good’ is out today. The duo (Miesha Louie on guitar/vox and Sean Hamilton on drums) say they “draw inspiration from classics to create some modern noise that’s catchy enough to raise a fist and sing along”. We spotted the Elastica influence straight off – can you spot any others in here?
Miesha is a new mother of twins. She’s reconnecting to her Secwepemc roots and adapting to what it means to be mixed Indigenous in Canada today. She’s a founder, board member, and mentor at Girls Rock Camp Calgary.
