Larlin

Brighton-based indie artist Larlin has released a simple yet poignant video for her most recent single, ‘Sondheim’.

VHS grain greets us as Larlin “walks” along looping locations that cross a coast, a city centre, a skate park, and other familiar but nameless places. As new outfits and days flicker by, her speed changes gear from a walk to a run as strangers pass by and the song hits its aching crescendo. Shot & edited by Jacob Parrott, the weight of the song gains even more gravity as the visuals cast an even darker shadow of loneliness for the track. Unseen and unheard, Larlin stops before it fades to black.

A moving accompaniment for ‘Sondheim’, the video slings a gritty layer of nostalgia and invisibility over an already dejected track. Building in conjunction with and honouring the message of the song, this video flawlessly reflects the essence of ‘Sondheim’.
