In the year of our lord 2026, dare I pose that the ’90s and indie sleeze revival continue to make a comeback? Perhaps yes, if you take a listen to Street Tampon’s tight 3 song EP, Want Wisdom Activity.
Delving into what could be termed ‘bedroom grunge’, the EP blends the sadness, anger, and angst common to many alternative bands, but filters it through a bedroom style sound mix. The mix pulls you into the music, creating a sense of intimacy that hooks you to the lyrics.
On the first track, “Imitate Pleasure” the melancholic voice and baneful guitar strums are reminiscent of PJ Harvey and a touch of Jeff Buckley.
The other two tracks on the album follow a cohesive sound alternating between dreamy and angry emotion.
Perhaps most impressively is the fact the New York City based multi-instrumentalist, and mind behind the project, 22 year old Emily Terzano, wrote, performed, mixed, and mastered all the songs.
If you’re looking for a fresh take on a familiar genre, take a fifteen minute dive into this beautiful album.
