Toulouse-based electronic duo Cut Face releases their debut EP, You’ll Never Get The Same Moment Twice.
Consisting of established French producer Body Hook and classically trained British vocalist Tacita Grace, the duo take a DIY approach, blending glitchy electronics with garage, jungle, and darkwave influences.
Opening with its title track, Cut Face immediately set the tone for You’ll Never Get The Same Moment Twice, where optimism meets realism.
“We start off the EP with the most optimistic title. Body Hook came up to me and said that sentence after we had listened to Headache’s ‘THE HEAD HURTS BUT THE HEART KNOWS THE TRUTH’. It’s a run through different memories, some seemingly more important than others. But in some sense, everything makes you who and what you are, however futile a moment seems. Everything is ephemeral and leaves a mark.
Tacita Grace
The whole is some kind of acceptance of life and what it is, the relationship we have with others and with ourselves.”
Throughout the EP, Cut Face confront dark emotions with raw honesty. It reflects the reality that life is fleeting and to live in the moment. Chaotic and reflective, the EP captures the idea that once a moment is gone, it can only live on in memory.
