Memorials return with ‘Cut Glass Hammer’, a quietly mesmerising lead single from forthcoming album All Clouds Bring Not Rain (out March 27 via Fire), and it’s a reminder of how powerful understatement can be. Inspired by Yoko Ono’s glass hammer artwork, the track plays with perception and repetition, building something subtly disorienting out of very few moving parts.

Formerly of Electrelane and Wire, Susman and Matthew Simms have long since moved beyond legacy-band framing. ‘Cut Glass Hammer’ feels like the work of a duo fully committed to doing things the slower, harder way: recording in real spaces, letting ideas evolve naturally, and embracing imperfection as part of the point.

If All Clouds Bring Not Rain lives up to the quiet confidence of this opener, it’s shaping up to be a record that rewards attention.
