Nashville-based indie artist Meg Elsier has released a bittersweet, growing-up anthem on her latest release, ‘sportscar [scrapped].’

In keeping with her introspective, deep-diving track record, Meg Elsier reflects on the growths and the losses we shuffle through as we age with razor-sharp wit on ‘sportscar [scrapped]’. Shifting through childhood memories into adulthood, this track is ensconced with flickering nostalgia and the cost of our toxic shortcomings. With dynamic rhythm and bracing guitar, this song is perfect for late-night drives and nocturnal musing.

I was really identifying with my beat-up car my mother gave me. It was this thing handed to me that I treated like shit… But that kinda was my life at the time. Something that was shiny and fast, a veneer; but if you checked under the hood, it was burning out. The oil was dark, and the engine was smoking. I would dye my hair (new paint job), get dolled up (took her to the car wash), and perform so well socially when I went out (that V8 engine purring, baby), but that was all it was. I had a coming-to moment like, ‘This isn’t sustainable and I’m about to crash out.’”
-Meg Elsier

Always wielding her poetry where others fear to tread, Meg Elsier has caught hold of a silvery thread that lies within all of us on this track. A consolidated beautiful melancholy that builds as the years pass, ‘sportscar [scrapped]’ holds within it a glimpse into the past, present, and future simultaneously.
