Tidal Rave are from Wellington NZ and tag themselves as a ‘jangle/surf/fuzz-pop sextet’. They have produced a very pleasing, poppy, rather kitcsch song for their latest release: ‘Banana’. It bounces along joyously and with notes of (Divine) comedy but within this form the song conveys a more serious message that gets to the rub of things.

‘Banana’ contemplates the enjoyment of the banana as a convenient and nourishing food, while also pondering ethical dilemmas about exploitative labour practices by large multi-national banana growers, expressing the pleasure/ guilt dilemma of western consumption that many of us grapple with.

Here for your enjoyment is the video which is a perfect visual match for the song.
