Australian three-piece Club Halifax release their debut album Bugs, digging into the complexities of being human through vivid storytelling and nostalgic 2000s sounds. Blending indie rock with country-leaning twang, Midwest emo and contemporary pop, the layered album is a study of humanity, looking at the world around us and turning inward.

Vocalist Bree shares the following about Bugs:

“The album itself isn’t linear, the songs are thematically broad and emotionally wide. Each emotional landscape evolves into the next and serves as a reminder that our emotional worlds are cyclical. It feels holistic rather than thematic, and a reflection of the messiness of being a human being.”

Urgent vocals cut through the guitars, balancing raw emotion with a nostalgic 2000s edge. A dynamic debut, Bugs moves through the highs and lows of being human, the search for connection and the messy process of putting the pieces together.

“Bugs are a collection of different creatures, because nothing’s ever one thing. Some of it stings. Some of it is a connection that grew out of the pain, because they were never separate to begin with. There’s so much pressure to have everything figured out, especially by your late 20s. But there’s not one clear answer, just hundreds of small contradictory things, still figuring themselves out.”
