Diva Duke

Straight from the Belgian underground come Diva Duke, a young four-piece with Steffi Duprez on vocals, Jelle De Vos on guitar, and brothers Warre and Ferre Heyvaerts on bass and drums, respectively. After debuting with “Again”, they’re back with their second single, Losers From Outer Space, out on Catfight Entertainment. And what a blast of energy it is!

This is rock ‘n’ roll you feel in your whole body: impossible to keep still while it’s playing. Diva Duke have the rawness and wild attitude of The Stooges, but they take it somewhere else. There’s a lot of Girlschool in here: street-level hard rock, British punk and the odd touch of metal, all mixed together and ready to blow. The guitars are angry, the bass rumbles, and the drums, recorded in a single take, never let up. Up front, Steffi Duprez delivers powerful, brazen vocals that round off a cracking slice of punk ‘n’ roll.

Under all that daft alien imagery, Losers From Outer Space is about feeling out of place, not knowing where you’re heading, and carrying on anyway. It’s a celebration of the right to be weird, turning the loser label into a badge of pride. After all, if we don’t fit in on this planet, there’s always outer space.

Recorded entirely DIY at Catfight Entertainment’s home studio, the track sounds fresh and urgent. If Diva Duke can kick up this much noise with just two singles, they’d better hurry up with the next one. We want more!
