Sydney-born, LA-based alternative rock artist YAGKI releases her sophomore EP, Sleepwalking.
Vulnerable and fearless, the EP takes a diaristic approach to processing trauma, piecing together broken childhood memories while confronting self-destruction, addiction and what it means to survive. Blending emo-pop with angst and a confronting honesty, Sleepwalking follows YAGKI through a journey confronting the darkness of her past.
“The EP is filled with memories my body remembers, but my mind only has in fragments. It’s sleepwalking through life with fragmented memories, not understanding what’s real and what’s not. It’s trusting your body to guide your safety, but never feeling completely whole because there’s a part your mind is shutting out to protect.”

The EP opens with ‘Charcoal’, a dark beginning that goes back to when YAGKI was just three years old, when an overdose left her in a coma. YAGKI shares:
“Before I had language for it or I could form a memory that would stay, my body already knew what survival felt like. ‘Charcoal’ is the beginning of this record because it’s the beginning of everything – not because I remember it, but because my body does.”
With Sleepwalking, YAGKI turns fragmented memories into a clear picture of survival and strength.
