London-based Swedish singer-songwriter Josefin Öhrn, previously of Grammy-nominated Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation, releases her debut album, Cherry.
Featuring contributions from Anton Newcombe (The Brian Jonestown Massacre), Andy Bell (Ride/Oasis) and backing vocals from Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream), the album blends hazy pop and psychedelia, exploring the experiences of womanhood through vulnerability, excitement, desire, love and grief. Like a cherry, it captures something both sweet and tart, marking a fresh start shaped by transformation. Reflecting on the album’s beginnings, Öhrn shares:
“It began as fragments of reflections and evolved into a body of work shaped by transformation — a document of endings and awakenings.”
A beautiful debut viewed through the female gaze, Cherry is a search for connection and freedom, embracing a new phase of life through cherry-tinted glasses.
