Toronto’s queer roller-skate punks Shiv and the Carvers are heading our way, so we grabbed Shiv Scott for a chat before they descend on London for LOUD WOMEN Fest this Saturday.
In the interview, LOUD WOMEN’s Hillary Grumbine talks to Shiv about the band, the Toronto punk community, taking Shiv and the Carvers overseas, and their superb new single ‘Executionary’.
‘Executionary’, released through Twin Fang Records, takes aim at that particularly cruel trick the anxious brain plays on us: suffering through the worst possible outcome before anything has actually happened. It’s a suitably frantic blast of skate-punk, big hooks and nervous energy, and we made it our Single of the Week back in July.
Shiv and the Carvers describe themselves, very correctly, as “queer roller skate punk from Toronto”. They’ll be bringing that energy to Rich Mix on Saturday 5 September as part of our enormous 19-artist LOUD WOMEN Fest London lineup.
