Singapore slowcore trio Vegtable announce their new album Hit by A Car, out 16 October via Field Work Recordings.
Consisting of Daniel Borces (guitar/vocals), Jeriel Lim (bass/vocals) and Shenen Khoo (drums), Vegtable are Singapore’s only slowcore outfit.
‘Stay’ takes inspiration from 22º Halo, pairing uneasy guitars with the mysteriousness that defines Vegtable. Daniel explains:
““I was obsessed with 22º Halo. I really like how the guitars are so dry and so sparse, but the feeling he gets out of it…it’s a lot. So I was trying to replicate that. In terms of the structure, to make it feel uneasy throughout the whole song, there’s some clashing notes we wanted to keep. The melody came first, then Jeriel wrote some stuff that fits. I’m pretty sure it means something, but we don’t talk about these things…”
