Toronto skate-punks Shiv and the Carvers are heading to LOUD WOMEN Fest London at Rich Mix on 5 September, and new single ‘Executionary’ gives us a very good idea of the sharp, frantic energy they will be bringing with them.
Released through Twin Fang Records, ‘Executionary’ wraps a painfully familiar subject in something immediate and catchy: the way anxiety can punish you long before anything has actually gone wrong. It is all nervous momentum, big hooks and the horrible recognition of a brain busily preparing for every possible disaster.
“The terror and shame you feel imagining the worst case scenario is the real punishment. Worrying only causes more suffering before the actual outcome occurs. We all know this, but we love to punish ourselves before the world does.”
