Chattanooga artist Jessica Nicole Brown turns feeling stuck into something far more fun on new single ‘Glitch in the Matrix’. Fuzzy guitars, layered harmonies and glitch-pop flourishes create the soundtrack to a highly relatable theory: perhaps you are not falling behind at all. Perhaps reality is simply malfunctioning.
“I wanted to create a matrix-esque world and experiment with a more glitch-pop music sound. It’s my way of coming to the conclusion of why I’m not yet where I want to be in life… clearly, there’s a glitch.”
Fair enough. Certainly preferable to another five-year plan.
Brown works across music, film and visual art, and that conceptual approach comes through here without overwhelming the song itself. ‘Glitch in the Matrix’ is bright, distorted and playfully strange, turning stagnation into an alternate-universe pop escape.
