San Fernando Valley, California singer-songwriter Jordan Patterson shares new single ‘Just My Friend’, the first track from her EP Songs From A Valley Girl, due 19 June via Secretly Canadian.
Built around the deceptively simple question “Do you wanna be just my friend?”, the song explores the uncertainty of an undefined relationship. Patterson’s distinctive voice carries the tension beautifully, turning a conversation nobody wants to have into something quietly devastating.
Of the track, Patterson says simply:
“I said what I said.”
’nuff said.
Songs From A Valley Girl is out 19 June. Patterson will appear at End of the Road Festival and Pitchfork Festival London later this year.
