Brighton duo WREX crash back in with SADWORLD, a five-track EP packed with anxiety, self-doubt, paranoia and emotional overload, all wrapped up in massive riffs and explosive alt-rock energy.

Built around recent singles ‘111’, ‘Paranoia’ and ‘Consume’, SADWORLD pulls from punk, nu-metal and alternative rock without sounding trapped by any of those labels. Mae Seaton’s vocals swing between vulnerability and fury, while George Donoghue’s guitars hit with the kind of crunch that feels designed for huge festival stages and small sweaty venues alike.

What makes WREX stand out though is the emotional honesty running through the EP. These songs deal with panic, uncertainty and disconnection without ever collapsing into misery. Even at its darkest, SADWORLD still carries flashes of defiance and optimism.

The band handed over creative control for the ‘Paranoia’ video to award-winning director Dogbrain, whose work with bands like Wargasm makes perfect sense here. WREX already have that same sense of chaos, catharsis and emotional intensity bubbling away.

Having already supported bands including The Hunna and Hacktivist, and now heading to both Bloodstock Open Air and LOUD WOMEN Fest London this year, WREX feel like a band rapidly levelling up in real time.

SADWORLD sounds loud, angry, vulnerable and gloriously alive. Exactly what alternative music should be doing right now.
