Emerging singer-songwriter and producer Liv Bloore shares her debut EP In Heaven, After Hours. Classically trained from an early age, she began her musical journey at the piano, studying classical repertoire and singing in a chapel choir. With a love for ethereal indie rock, she began transforming diary entries into lyrics during the pandemic, channeling raw vulnerability and reflection.
Blending alt-rock, shoegaze, and ethereal textures, In Heaven, After Hours shows Bloore’s life as she processes love, loss, and identity. Bloore shares the following:
“My debut EP In Heaven, After Hours is a collection of songs about love, queerness, grief, nostalgia, and my existential feelings about religion. I wrote and produced this EP over four years, starting at 19 years old, and I’m 23 now! The lyrics map a period of huge change in my life: leaving rural Suffolk and moving to crazy London, falling in love, losing loved ones, battling with chronic health issues, regaining strength in my body all the while constantly thinking about how closely religion and music are tied together. I’ve never been prouder of a project before, and I hope more than anything the lyrics resonate with people who have experienced loss and grief and all the contours of life and change.”
Focus track and closer for the EP, ‘A Prophet For A Sin’ is a sweeping, epic finale to Bloore’s debut.
“A Prophet For A Sin is about outgrowing a religious upbringing, but always wondering about God. I had Miss Havisham, the jilted bride from Great Expectations in mind when I wrote the lines ‘I would be your bride / I’d wait at the altar’ and ‘take my rusting pearls / unclasp me from your neck’ – she grows old waiting for the one she loved for all eternity, in an afterlife of sorts. The final verse repeats the EP title: ‘in heaven, after hours, let’s meet at the wishing well’ – I loved the idea of something being hidden even from God, sneaking around in heaven after curfew with the one you love. It’s also about grieving the ones who have passed on, secretly praying, wishing against all odds that you might one day meet them in the afterlife.”
