Today on LOUD WOMEN we’re buzzing to premiere ‘Girlbestfriend’, the brand new single from rising indie-pop heartbreaker Daisy Peacock – a fizzing, flirty, fed-up anthem for anyone who’s ever rolled their eyes at that boy and his “oh she’s just my girl best friend”.
Written during her first year at uni, ‘Girlbestfriend’ takes one of the oldest red flags in the book and turns it into a razor-sharp pop blast. Peacock wrote it “very quickly” as a “rage reliever”, and you can hear that catharsis in every punchy lyric and every eye-roll-in-song-form hook. Produced by Jamie Sellers, it’s a bright, self-assured step forward from an artist who’s already mastering the balance between playful and painfully relatable.
If you’re into the diaristic bite of Olivia Rodrigo, the storytelling charm of Maisie Peters or the rising wave of UK pop girls who are sick of your bullshit – Daisy Peacock sits comfortably (and loudly) in that lane. Her lyricism feels shaped by Sheffield indie roots and a lifetime of creative writing notebooks, but her confidence is pure 2025 pop ascendancy.
Since her 2023 debut ‘You Don’t Want Me Enough’ earned her top-10 nods from Song Academy and Citrus Records, Peacock has been steadily building her name — supporting Alfie Jukes, daydreamers and Blondes, and popping up at YNOT and hometown festival Tramlines. ‘Girlbestfriend’ feels like the moment she steps out from “one to watch” into “one you can’t ignore”.
A sugar-rush anthem for the chronically done. ‘Girlbestfriend’ is out today via AWAL.
