My Violence is the nom de plume of Viennese chanteuse Silvia Ryder, formerly one half of the dreampop duo Sugarplum Fairies. With Monday’s Child, Ryder pulls us deeper into her dark sonic world, following her 2023 self-titled debut LP.
Drawing inspiration from the 19th-century English fortune-telling nursery rhyme, Monday’s Child is a dreamlike noir-pop album that is hauntingly beautiful. Within the melancholy darkness, Ryder fuses Americana folk rock and shoegaze into a spellbinding melodic collision. Each track unfolds like a hazy fever dream, saturated with emotion.
