London’s feral feminist theatre-punks Twat Union are back, legs out and middle fingers up, with their new single ‘Tiny Shorts’, out now on Alcopop! Records — and it’s a glorious fuck-you to the male gaze, catcallers, and anyone who’s ever tried to tell a woman how to dress.

“Women should be able to wear whatever the hell they want, let it all hang out, and not be mistreated or disrespected. The song is also a pushback against the assumptions that are made about people based on the clothes they choose to wear. If you want to wear tiny shorts that make your bum look amazing while you have thoughts as big as your shorts are small—you can. It’s not a choice you have to make.”

‘Tiny Shorts’ is as cheeky as it is charged, a riot of jagged guitars, pounding rhythm, and vocals that dance between snarl and smirk. Produced by Jonny Firth and Kate Mac, with a mix that feels as alive and sweaty as their gigs, it’s the latest evolution of Twat Union’s unmistakable sound: equal parts punk gig, comedy show, and feminist rally.

If you’ve not yet experienced a Twat Union show, imagine: props, raffles, line-dancing, screaming, sax solos, and a small chance of mild chaos. The self-proclaimed “angry girls” are fast becoming one of the UK’s most essential live bands, mixing feminist fury with joyful absurdity in a way that feels totally fresh.

After a whirlwind year playing Glastonbury, Shambala, Rebellion, and of course LOUD WOMEN Fest, this new single cements their rep as the band you want soundtracking your righteous rage and your pre-drinks.

Twat Union are proving they’re not just here for the jokes — they’re here for revolution by way of ridiculous fun.

Catch them live at Cambridge Indie Pop Festival (15 Nov) and The Moth Club (17 Nov) for the single release show.
