Brooklyn-based indie-punk outfit Sadlands release their debut album Try To Have A Little Fun.

Fronted by guitarists and songwriters Samantha Campanile and Jess Lane, with bassist Louis Rabeno and drummer Harley Cox, Sadlands blend jangly pop melodies with vulnerable lyricism.

Co-written by Jess and Samantha, Try to Have a Little Fun mixes catchy bops with reflections on heartbreak, illness, and the weight of everyday life.

“I wrote these songs in the aftermath of a breakup, trying to embrace doing things by myself and for myself, including writing songs for the first time in my life. It was empowering to put everything I was screaming over and over in my head but couldn’t say out loud into these songs.”

Jess Lane

“These songs reflect finding balance in being a school teacher by day and musician by night. I wrote with the intention of exploring how I could further challenge myself vocally. It was fun to have the space to ‘go off’ and convey emotions I felt through these songs. Harley and Louis are an unstoppable force together as a rhythm section, and they’ve helped Jess and I turn our ideas into big bad rock songs. We’re all really excited to share these songs with the world.”
