Spoken word poet and alternative rap artist B of Briz released another single off of their upcoming EP, Solace. ‘A spark in your heart’ is an offering of community. A hand held out in the darkness. She is following her question of what we do in ‘A Profoundly Sick Society’ with an answer: we come together.
This single is a list of real actions we take in the world when becoming a collective. The understanding that we are together not only in the good or the mundane, but when the misery creeps in to offer a spark of light in those moments.
With an instrumental that has an eclectic mix of instruments, from piano to deep tuba sounds and jaunty harmonica-like bits. It maintains some of the similar looping and cadence of the previous single, which marries the two into a cohesive piece of art. As B of Briz leads us through a summer of solace, there’s so much comfort in the story she’s weaving.
