The soundtrack to our Friday comes from London-based, Poland-raised artist MM’99 and her latest single, ‘S4M’.
Blending witch house, hyperpop, electro and eurotrance, ‘S4M’ is a haunting yet infectious revenge anthem. Its glitchy digital soundscape captures a journey through trauma and recovery, transforming victimhood into freedom.
“‘S4M’ is a song about processing trauma and going through the stages of recovery like the stages of grief. It’s definitely my angriest, most aggressive release yet and it required me pushing some boundaries for myself with the crunchy production and more direct, less-drenched-in-reverb vocals. Even though the song is about one of my darkest and saddest experiences, the lyrics firmly reject the the position of a victim, reject the suffering and disallow pain, so there is only space for expression and freedom”

The accompanying video, self-directed and edited by MM’99, pays tribute to a scene from David Lynch’s Inland Empire, filmed on the same cameras used in the production.
