The soundtrack to our Friday is from Irish artist Sister Ghost (Shannon Delores O’Neill) and her maxi single ‘Drain You’. This special Bandcamp release features two live versions of ‘Drain You’ from Sister Ghost’s debut album, Beyond The Water

Sister Ghost shares the following about ‘Drain You’:

“This song is about releasing and letting go. It’s quite literal in that sense of draining something out, but it’s subjective too in the sense that it’s not really about one person, thing or experience, rather it’s about the hard time after – the release and transition that follows when things change beyond your control. I know that everyone can relate to this, at some point in their lives.

I wrote the chorus after reading an interview in The Times magazine with Alanis Morissette in the spring of 2020. She was talking about the concept of ‘female rage’ and how there should always be valid space for us to express our fear, anger and sadness, especially in music.”

Sister Ghost also released a music video for ‘Drain You’, filmed in the epic desert terrain of Joshua Tree, California.
