LOUD WOMEN fest alumni ZAND has released their new single, ‘TOES!’, heralding the official end of their ‘Ugly Pop’ era, a term they coined to describe their music back in 2018. It feels like they’ve taken all the elements that made last years SEWERSTAR EP stand out, and amped it all up in the best possible way.
The song opens with a dark, pounding bass line, immediately bringing to mind industrial bands like Nine Inch Nails and KMFDM. Then the harsh guitars kick in, followed by some of ZAND’s most impressive vocals. In just under four minutes, ZAND takes on disappointing men, and the pathetic comments they send/say to them.

“Sometimes, to make good art… one must embrace complex feelings, a method completely unheard of in songwriting. So, I took it upon myself to channel said feelings into 3 minutes and 50 seconds of sonic posturing, thus TOES! was born – my ultimate hater anthem. No one is safe from her clutches, including me.”
