LA-based dark electronic artist Naz Hejaz has released an intoxicating track dripping in siren poetry on her debut single, ‘Incurable Dreams’, out now via Subtle Freak Studios.
Hooking bassline and whip-like percussion open the track under the whisper of Hejaz before shifting into gripping, robotic spoken word that makes you drop to your knees in a musical stupor. With a trance-like effect, ‘Incurable Dreams’ mesmerises to the extent that most electronic tracks only dream of, but as Hejaz shares, this hypnosis has a darkness to it.
“Teeing off the cycle of addiction is the seductive and surreptitious longing for that which ruins your life. Like the long lost lover you could never quite relinquish, it tugs at your sleeve and itches your brain until you give in. An ‘Incurable Dream’, if you will.”
-Naz Hejaz
‘Incurable Dreams’ is an impressive debut from her forthcoming album, Human Halfway House, that marks Hejaz’s journey into vice and slipping further from humanity into the clutches of technology. This single left me absolutely floored and I’m sincerely awaiting this album with bated breath.
