Knife Bride at The Grace, 24 Feb - all photos by Artemi

“Nu-Gothika” metal band KNIFE BRIDE headlined BBC Radio 1’s Alyx Holcombe’s Mantra night – a sold-out show at The  Grace in Islington.

It’s a very theatrical experience, with Mollie Clack’s Bride of Chucky doll persona dancing like an undead 1920’s flapper. Guitarist Sean Windle and bassist Craig Glynn book end her impressively like two riders of Rohan. All headbanger hair with some fabulous metal gurning.

New single ‘Worthy’ is a highlight along with ‘Territory’ and older favourite ‘Grenade’ everybody gets low.

Support Mallavora bringing their eastern influences to bear on their very intense heavy sound. Jessica Douek moves between clean melodic vocals and harsh growls with ease.

Highlights are the down tempo metal gaze song about grief. And set finisher ‘Disorder’ a song about dealing with disability and people’s attitudes towards it.
