London DIY artist Alexandra Leaving today releases ‘Hold the Sugar’, a stirring indierock anthem on an emotive theme, with an accompanying music video shot in a chapel in Brighton.

“Hold The Sugar was written a couple of years ago, emerging from the scar tissue of a pretty toxic relationship. I kept it close to me for that reason. It was the first song Jack [O’Hea] and I collaborated on at his studio in Brockley, London. There’s many layers and instruments on the track including a vintage harmonium. I wanted to capture the sensation of being trapped in a cycle … floating though dreamy verses then being pulled into intense, darker choruses. Mirroring what that relationship felt like. You escape the cycle by the end though, that’s the important bit”

Catch her live at ‘School Night’ 11 March at The Garage, Islington
