A day ahead of general release, we are delighted to bring you the exclusive premiere of brand-new London alt-rock 5some Astraba‘s celestial debut single/video ‘Sink the Moon’. One for lovers of lush psych guitar layers, warm synths and honied vocals.

“At the time we were writing it, we were listening to a lot of Fontaines D.C., a fair bit of The
Smile, some dreamy psychedelia and a bit of post-punk as well. You can probably hear that, but more than anything we just followed what felt and sounded good to our 5 sets of ears. People find it difficult to tag us with a genre, and I like that – let them be confused” – Emily Lissack, vocals

The lyrics (written by Willow Cunningham) explore the demise of nature for the conquest of profit, conceptualised in their music video that follows “the corporate man”, moving unnoticed through society. She expands:

“Nature is important to all of us in the band, so it felt like a good place to start. The song is a lament, or even a prayer. illustrating Mother Nature as a form of deity feels significant: we may never understand the full picture, making it feel transcendental; it will always be bigger than us–something “the man” never ceases to affront.”
