Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sarah Kinsley has released ‘Last Time We Never Meet Again’, the first single from her upcoming album Escaper.

The new single perfectly encapsulates the combination of heartfelt songwriting, lush production, and vocal theatrics that make Kinsley’s music distinct. Unapologetic in its borrowings from 80’s synth-pop aesthetics (which have also been embraced by her contemporaries Chappell Roan, Mitski, and Aurora), ‘Last Time We Never Meet Again’ features full string arrangements, a pulsating synth bass line, bouncy, reverb-bathed drums, and an impressive display of Kinsley’s vocal range.

The song gives us an exciting taste of what’s to come on Escaper, where Kinsley seems determined to put her multitudinous musical skills to good use. A “self-produced, self-written, and self-performed” endeavor made in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer John Congleton, the record features Kinsley on the piano, synth, guitar, Ondes Martenot, glass bowls, and violin.

Escaper will be out on 6 September, followed by a 31-date headline tour across North America, the UK/Ireland, and Europe. The tour will include a stop at London’s Heaven on 14th November alongside dates in Dublin, Bristol, Glasgow, and Manchester.
