Choking Susan are a punk band from Detroit, fronted by the amazing Colleen Caffeine. Though they haven’t played Rebellion Festival for a few years, they’re certainly no strangers to Rebellion, and will no doubt be welcomed back with open, tattooed arms.

For anyone not familiar with your music, how would you describe your sound?

We are old-school punk, fuelled by rock’s catchy melodies and life’s ridiculous happenstance, born and bred from the streets of Detroit!

If you had to recommend one of your songs to a new listener, which one would it be?

I Hate My Life.

You’ve played Rebellion Festival a few times now, what does Rebellion Festival mean to you?

It’s a gathering of family nationwide! It’s the only place I go where I feel “normal”. It’s also a wonderland where punk rock dreams are made, having the founders of punk gathered under one roof. Being a girl from Detroit, growing up the 80’s, I never thought I’d get to see these bands, let alone play alongside them!

Are there any bands you’re particularly excited to see over the weekend?

I’ve never seen The Alarm! Can’t wait to see them!

What else are you up to this year?

We are playing weeks of dates over here supporting our Rebellion performance, so we are excited to be back on the soil of the UK, filling our ears with your brilliant sounds, and belly’s with that Marmite stuff!

Choking Susan will be performing on the Arena stage on the Sunday of Rebellion Festival this year –  tickets and info here.
